From Idea to Founding

Our journey began at the University of Wuppertal, where we met during our physics studies. Alongside our academic work, we were particularly fascinated by data science, software development, and infrastructure. Even during our bachelor's studies, we were approached by master's and doctoral students from other disciplines for help with data analysis and software development...

During the Corona pandemic, which was marked by widespread remote work, we increasingly focused on data science and software development. It was during this time that our idea took shape: Graduates in the business world also need our expertise. Moreover, we realized: Many companies talk about AI in their public statements, but few actually implement it. That became our motivation.

After successfully applying for the Wuppertal Start-up Scholarship (W-stip), we founded Digon.IO GmbH on February 22, 2022. Shortly after, we received the North Rhine-Westphalia Founder's Scholarship. Since then, we've been supporting SMEs in optimizing their entire supply chain and helping software companies implement data analysis and algorithms.

> We Love Open Source

Digital Sovereignty Through Transparency

At Digon.IO, we believe that open source is the backbone of digital sovereignty and innovation. We actively contribute to open source projects by submitting code, bug fixes, and documentation improvements. Over the years, we've published smaller projects related to our team's talks and blog posts, helping others learn from our experiences...

One of our more notable contributions is the scheduler library - a lightweight, in-process Python scheduler with support for asyncio, threading, and timezones. It was created to solve real-world problems and is now used by multiple companies and open source projects. We are proud to see it being adopted and are always open to contributions or feedback from the community.

Opening up our source code allows transparency and builds trust with our customers. They can see how we develop, test, and document our products, ensuring that the quality we promise is the quality they receive.

BEF - Bergisches Entwicklerforum

As active members of Wuppertal's tech ecosystem, we at Digon.IO are proud to co-organize the Bergisches Entwicklerforum (BEF) in collaboration with the W-tec / Technologiezentrum Wuppertal W-tec GmbH. This event brings together software developers, data scientists, engineers, and enthusiasts from industry, academia, and the open-source community to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and foster collaboration...

The BEF is more than just a meetup - it's a platform for digital innovation in the Bergisches Land. With a mix of practical talks, technical deep dives, and networking, we aim to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. Whether you're an SME owner, a startup founder, a researcher, or a hobbyist - there's something for everyone.

From Rust in physical simulations, LLM benchmarking, and cyber security, to AI in logistics and observability tools - our events reflect the broad spectrum of modern tech topics. And yes, we always serve pizza and drinks to keep the conversation flowing!
